April 28th Breakfast

The breakfast was a highly motivating experience for all in attendance! The Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation sponsor a SSWBN breakfast annually and this one was outstanding!

This year coincidentally Mercedes Aza of Roomscapes took her 3 minutes to tell of the involvement she had as a member of the Educational Board while gracing us with a moving story of a scholarship recipient who was able to change her life with the help of a mere $500 scholarship at that time. Mercedes proceeded to make a donation to the Foundation of $500!

Massachusetts Educational FoundationVeva Johnson, President of the Foundation graciously accepted the donation and told us that over the years scholarships of over $30,000 have been awarded to date! Keeping up with the momentum, Trinette Faint, a scholarship recipient from 2009 spoke about how her scholarship from the Educational Foundation empowered her to establish herself as an author, entrepreneur, Harper’s Bazaar award winner and oh so much more. Trinette’s energy was infectious as we all realized the benefits of giving to the Educational Foundation. In the attendance was an original member of the SSWBN and founding member of the Educational Foundation- Shevawn Hardesty, who told us of her relationship with Marion Overhiser, whose memory the Foundation was created, and her gratitude that the recognition of Marion and the dream continues.

Ja-Naé Duane

Ja-Naé Duane

Ja-nae Duane was the speaker provided by the Educational Foundation. Ja-nae focused on her guide to success including tips for self accountability and breaking the rule (not illegally). Her story and positive energy permeated the room! Her pay it forward and the only thing you can count on is change values We can all learn from each other and support one another…share in each other’s dreams and define success in our own lives and live it.

My Thursday was jump started with pride in being a Board member for the Educational Foundation…what a great feeling!
